Reinier Properties, Lisl Howell, Thomas Howell Fuquay-Varina North Carolina Review

R

Where do I begin. I signed a lease with these people, and unknowingly signed a waiver to have my documents reviewed by an attorney. As the time passed there were several things in the home that were in need of repair that went unfixed. Not to mention the A/C unit was sooo old that it didn’t work the entire summer. They installed a window unit, but never fixed the A/C. I had a family with children, and this is completely unacceptable. nBefore the lease was over, I lost my job and they threatened to evict me, so I willfully left without the drama of an eviction. Then they filed a suit against me saying that I never cleaned the house and charged me $4,000. And I never got my $2,000 deposit back. nThey took advantage of me thinking that I was a stupid single mother without the ability to fight back. And posting my experience on this website and others will warn other people never to rent from these con artists. And I know there are other people out their whom they have ripped off. But it needs to stop. And both Thomas and Lisl claim they are Christians, give me a break. nWaiting4noonenFuquay-Varina, North CarolinaU.S.A.

  • Yonica Pimentel was working for a lawyer when she signed this lease purchase agreement (not a rental). Not only did we send it, in advance, for her to review, we also asked that she have her employer look it over. And, we met with her before it was signed and went thru the entire contract to make sure she understood it. It was not a rental and no deposit was required, but rather a down payment which would be forfeited if she didn’t buy in the end and applied to the loan if she did buy But, if it had been a deposit she still wouldn’t have received it back and she knows it. The home was left in an absolutely disgusting, filthy condition. It took many hours to clean out just the fridge! The hardwoods needed to be sanded and restrained, the high end, new carpet needed to be removed and replaced (spills throughout is an understatement) and days were spent trying to clean everything else and repainting. Even with all of that we still couldn’t get rid of the horrible odor that permeated everything. This home was remodeled before she moved in and had to be completely redone less than a year later. She was late on more than half of her payments and had a number of NSF’s. She tried lying to the judge about us not providing AC (which isn’t required by law in our state). She called us on a Wednesday to tell us it wasn’t working. Since it was so hot and we couldn’t get someone to fix it until Friday we purchased a new window unit to provide comfort until the repair person could get there. Despite the fact that we provided air filters and instructions to change them monthly, the repair person said she never did once and they were filthy which is why the unit wasn’t working properly. He repaired it and we checked in with her a number of times thru email to make sure it worked ok. We had the proof in email (years later and I still have those emails…) that she was happy and that it worked fine all summer. She was trying to shift blame to someone for her not having her act together. She didn’t pay her last month’s payment and moved without providing a forwarding addresses. We had given her a move out checklist and description of what would need to be cleaned before she moved….. she did none of it. Through a bit of detective work we were able to find her new home (another private landlord). We had to take her to court for the last months payment and damages to the property. We had a huge stack of pictures and emails both from before, throughout and after she moved in. We even had the ad about the property with pictures. It was actually quite comical. She tried to use our pictures as what the home looked like when she moved out. The judge took a look through our pictures and saw that she stole our before pics, with our furniture in the home, as her own. If anyone reads this, they are welcome to see the factual information before deciding to rent from us. We have lots of honest, positive reviews not only about us as landlords, but as decent human beings.
